A modern fit created by professional workwear designer Karin Slegers

We asked Karin to work with Tecasafe® 360+ and develop two modern safety workwear designs that the younger generation of workers all over the world truly want to wear.

“Using this new stretch fabric to create workwear garments that give workers unlimited freedom to move… it felt like I could design out-of-the-box with no limits. Feeling the freedom to move is so important in working safely – flexibility and function are key when it comes to safe PPE garments. Working with Tecasafe® 360+ offers that ultimate combination of flexibility and safety. In my design approach, I like to accentuate the strength and physicality of the working body. This concept is expressed by visual elements including the seaming and reflective striping. I hope to inspire garment producers around the world to work with this great stretch fabric and use its unique qualities to develop garment designs that empower the wearer in their need for flexibility and movement of their PPE clothing.”

"The overall that I created is a combination of utility with a minimal silhouette. The stretch enhances the drape of the garment, which gives more comfort to the wearer while engaged in heavy manoeuvres. The silhouette of the garment is minimal and geometric, thus making it suitable for all genders. The colour combination and complexity are reduced and minimalized to focus low-cost production on large scale."

"I’ve designed a coverall with eight pockets. This will allow the user to carry a phone, cards, and other necessities for convenience and efficiency. The shoulder and knees are designed with pleats to enhance the wear resistance and scratch of the joints. Considering comfort, I have added zippers at the bottom of the pants. I have also added internal pockets. Finally, the coverall’s integrated sensor technology, data transmission, and processing, monitor life in parameters in real-time."

"These designs were developed to meet the ever-evolving needs of modern workers. Gusseted and bellows pockets were strategically cut and sewn to increase storage capacity without sacrificing mobility. Buttons and other closures were hidden inside the fabric to prevent heat absorption. The elasticated front waistband and reinforced rear pockets enhance versatility and adaptability. Additionally, the three-piece sleeve, contrast piping, and elbow patches elevate the typical boxy workwear uniform into a comfortable, versatile, and thoughtfully designed ensemble."
